select one essay question of the following two. This is the most comprehensive section of your midterm. Please make sure to fully respond to all parts of the questions and to reference both secondary and primary sources in your response. You should use both lecture and your readings as evidence to support an original argument. Your response should be between 5-6 full paragraphs. Try not to repeat the information from section one in your responses below to show the widest breadth of historical understanding. Your essay should have an introduction, body, conclusion, and thesis statement.
1) Evaluate the consequences of late 19th and early 20th century reforms on one of the following populations: 1) immigrants 2) working class OR 3) women. Make sure to provide both specific examples of policy and cultural changes as they affected the demographic you selected.

2) How did industrialization alter the economy and culture in the United States? Make sure to describe the effects of this major change in social and economic organization.
