Applying the Four Goals of Psychology
Instructions:
This assignment consists of two parts. Each part will be graded separately, but you will using your work in the first part to complete the second part. Please read the instructions carefully so that you can plan your work with this in mind.
The assignment is a written paper, approximately 400-600 words (about 2 pages), double-spaced, using a standard 12 inch font. I recommend that you type your paper in Word or Google Docs first, then submit it in the Reply box below. This way you can edit your document easily and not worry about losing your work. Replying directly into the text box requires typing the entire paper in one sitting, as you cannot save your submission and come back to it.
When composing your paper, please consult the rubric. It shows you how the assignment is graded and what you need to include to earn the maximum amount of credit. To access the rubric, click on the Rubric link below this instruction box.

Part 1: Applying the Four Goals of Psychology
Think of a situation or an issue that has been or currently is challenging in your life. Areas to think about could include relationships at home, your education, your social life, or a personal challenge or goal.
Review the four main goals of psychology in Chapter 1 of the text, and on the page The Four Main Goals of Psychology in this module.
Describe the issue your are thinking about. Include enough detail that someone reading about your situation can get a clear picture of it. Note: I will be the only one reading this, so you don’t have to worry about sharing any personal information.
Explain your issue. Write about at least two factors that you think might be contributing to this issue, or that make it challenging, or two reasons why you want to set a certain goal for yourself.
Make a prediction. Come up with a hypothesis regarding your situation. Click on this link from the module to go back to the page about creating a hypothesis: The Scientific Method.
Change. Write about a change that you hope to make that might help you address your situation or work towards your goal.
