The essay will be four (4) paragraphs and a minimum of 600 and maximum of 750 words long.
Paragraph 1: Introduce the image, where it is located, who the artists, and a thesis statement. Remember to include the image with the text neatly wrapped around it in paragraph one.
Paragraph 2: Choose one visual vocabulary term to describe the image. How does the painter use that term to create meaning in the image (what is its impact)? Relate this term to the thesis statement.
Paragraph 3: Choose a second visual vocabulary term to describe the image. How does the painter use that term to create meaning in the image (what is its impact)? Relate this term to the thesis statement.
Paragraph 4: Conclude. Tie the two middle paragraphs together with a final statement on the image. Restate the thesis.
Research & Documentation:
You will document only the image. Citation should be MLA format.
All of the words in the essay should be your own original thoughts and observations.
No external research is allowed. I’m interested in what you see in the image, not what other published sources have seen.
Formatting the Essay:
Use MLA style, which is normally used for the humanities, such as literature, religion, art, and music.
Title will be centered and will be descriptive.
Double space, including the Works Cited page (Works Cited page will include only the citation for the piece of art).
One-inch margins all the way around, which is standard for Microsoft Word
