Write a 400-to-600-word thematic label.

You already have a brief thematic statement. Now expand this to serve as a more engaging introduction to your exhibit. Explain to your audience why they should visit your exhibit, what they will learn, or what they will see in the artworks that might edify or surprise them. I have a rough draft of my thoughts written down and you can expand that in two great details

Use Parenthetical Citations

Your research will help in writing these thematic and object labels, and you will show how your research has informed your labels by citing sources. I recommend that you use parenthetical citations to link the ideas in your thematic label to your bibliography or Works Cited page

What are parenthetical citations? “Parenthetical citations are included in a research project when a line of text is taken directly from another source and placed in your own project. They are also included in a research project when another author’s idea is used in your research project, but is rephrased, or paraphrased, in your own words. ”

Ryven, James. “What’s a Parenthetical Citation vs. a Footnote? When Do I Use Them?” Citation Machine, 15 Oct. 2018, www.citationmachine.net/resources/parenthetical-citation-vs-footnote/

As an example, imagine that you are writing a thematic label for a Virtual Exhibit on Minoan Pottery. You read an Academic Journal article about Minoan Pottery, and you write this sentence including some information from this article. Your sentence would include a parenthetical citation to that article:

The greatest number of Minoan Kamares Ware cups documented outside of Crete is found at the Anatolian coastal settlement of Miletus (Raymond 2009, 150).

The parenthetical citation is (Raymond 2009, 150). This lets me know that you have read this Academic Journal article and that you are using information from this article in your Virtual Exhibit labels.

The full citation for this Academic Journal article would be included at the end of your exhibit, in your Works Cited page (or bibliography) in MLA format:

Raymond, A. “Miletus in the Middle Bronze Age: An Overview of the Characteristic Features and Ceramics.” The Minoans in the Central, Eastern and Northern Aegean – New Evidence [Monographs of the Danish Institute at Athens 8], edited by C. F. Macdonald, E. Hallager, and W.-D. Niemeier, Athens, 2009, pp. 143-157.

The purpose of this parenthetical citation, (Raymond 2009, 150), is to link the information in your label text with your Works Cited page. This shows your reader how you have used credible sources in your research.

Write a 200-to-400-word label for your central object. I will attach the central object and label it as central object

How does this central object exemplify your theme? What might we learn by viewing it?

This 200-to-400-word object label is in addition to the artwork object information I will put the objects that are selected and their information as well too.

Your Works Cited page should include the credible sources that you use for your thematic and object labels. Some of these sources should be cited parenthetically in your labels in order to show me how you have used ideas and facts from these sources

Select and write 200-to-400-word object labels for two other artworks. I will attached and label it as object number 1 and 2
