You will be examining and researching a high-profile leader’s ethical and/or criminal behaviors and its’ impact on the organization(s) they were representing. This analysis can span for-profit or not-for-profit organizations.
Select a high-profile leader and provide the following research:
Background of the leader’s position and connection with the organization(s)
Overview of the ethical and/or legal problems identified
What were the underlying motivations, reasonings, and any other psychological factors you can uncover that would have predicted such behaviors and future outcomes.
How was this organization able to work through this problem (if they did) and what was the end result? Have they rebounded? Have they recovered the value of their brand? Do people trust them?
What systems can an organization develop/implement to avoid this problem or mitigate the risk of this happening in the future?
Write a six (6) to eight (8) page academic research paper. A minimum of five (5) academic sources are required.
Here is a short list of a few “leaders” and the organizations that were adversely affected due to their actions. These three are off-limits, but are presented here to get you thinking about the kinds of leaders/organizations that you want to consider for your paper:
Lance Armstrong, who used performance-enhancing drugs to win seven Tour de France victories. At the time of his fall, he was closely connected to and endorsed by the U.S. Postal Service and Nike’s Live Strong initiative.
Dr. Larry Nasser, Michigan State’s team doctor and the U.S. Gymnastics Olympic Team doctor accused and convicted of sexual assault on numerous gymnast.
Ken Lay and Andy Fastow, Executive Officers at Enron; the largest energy company in the world at the time, before they orchestrated its’ eventual bankruptcy.
PLEASE READ THIS: There are plenty of leaders to consider for this assignment. Leaders associated with or attached to your organizational scan company (in any way) are off limits for this assignment. Also, do not consult with any other group regarding their leaders or their companies. This should be original research, conducted by you, and treated as an individual assignment
