Given that we’ve discussed taxes in Chapter 4, I thought the following would be a good discussion topic for the week:
There has been plenty of discussion about recent tax reforms. Given what you’ve heard and read, and what you may have recently experienced while filing your own tax returns, what are some of the pros and cons of the changes made? You can discuss federal income tax guidelines, tax brackets, tax benefits that may promote socially desirable actions (like those aimed at home ownership, education, family structures, retirement, etc.). You can talk about tax implications to taxpayers, the economy or society. Please be respectful of all opinions. This discussion is meant to get you thinking about tax implications to both you and others. Feel free to reference articles and materials outside of what you’ve read in the text.
