Critical Thinking Assignment (60 Points)
Important! Read First
Choose one of the following two assignments to complete this week. Do not complete both assignments. Identify your assignment choice in the title of your submission. Note that, while there are two options for the Critical Thinking Assignment, there is only one rubric. Review the rubric to confirm you are meeting the assignment requirements.
Option #1: Analyze the Quantitative Methodology
Write a paper that analyzes the aspects of the quantitative methodology for research. You will analyze the purpose of quantitative research, the different designs associated with quantitative research, the data collection methods and techniques associated with each design, and the data analysis associated with quantitative research methods. Finally, determine whether your proposed research study will use this method and, if so, which design you will use, which data collection method you will use, and how you will analyze the data. If this is not the method you will use, discuss why it is not appropriate for your research proposal. Make sure to support your analysis with outside scholarly research.
Your paper should be 2-3 pages in length (excluding cover page and references) and formatted according to the CSU-Global Guide to Writing and APA. Be sure to discuss and reference concepts taken from the assigned textbook reading and relevant research. You must include a minimum of three credible, academic or professional references beyond the text or other course materials. Review the grading rubric to see how you will be graded for this assignment.
Option #2: Present an Analysis of the Quantitative Methodology
Create a presentation that analyzes the aspects of the quantitative methodology for research. You will include the following in your presentation:
Analysis of the purpose of quantitative research
Analysis of the different designs associated with quantitative research
Analysis of the data collection methods and techniques associated with each design
Analysis of the data analysis associated with quantitative research methods
Discussion of whether your proposed research study will use this method
If so, which design you will use, which data collection method you will use, and how you will analyze the data.
If not, why it is not appropriate for your research proposal. Make sure to support your analysis with outside scholarly research.
Your presentation should be 8-10 slides in length (excluding title and reference slides) and formatted according to the CSU-Global Guide to Writing and APA. Also, make sure that you included a minimum of 100-150 words in the “Notes” area below each slide to provide further depth, critical thinking, and support for what you are presenting on the slides. Be sure to discuss and reference concepts taken from the assigned textbook reading and relevant research. You must include a minimum of three credible, academic or professional references beyond the text or other course materials. Review the grading rubric to see how you will be graded for this assignment.
