1. An introduction that clearly outlines the topic with a clear thesis and preview.

2. Body

a. Pick three-five interactions that you had during your experience (these could be big interactions or little interactions)

i. Explain what happened during the interaction (act as if I have never read this before)

b. Pick one theory for each of the interactions

i. Explain the theory (again, act like I have no idea what this theory is; define all terms and cite sources when you tell me about this theory)

ii. Tell me how this theory explains and relates to the interaction that you presented.

The body of this paper should have at least three separate sections (no more than five): One section where you talk about an interaction and a theory that relates to it; another section where you talk about another interaction and another theory that relates to it; another section where you talk about another interaction and another theory that relates to it.

Again – use 3-5 interactions and 3-5 theories (depending on how many interactions you use)

3. A conclusion where you summarize the paper and give concluding remarks.

Make sure that you use headings to guide the reader regarding each topic in the body and the conclusion. In addition, make sure that you use correct grammatical form and structure. Sloppy writing indicates sloppy thinking. Papers that do not adhere to solid grammatical structure will be penalized.

Please note that as you are talking about theories in this paper, you will need to cite your sources. Sources should be cited in proper APA style.

The autoethnography written was about me being diagnosed with thyroid. After visiting the doctor, blood samples were taken, and when they came out, I was informed that I had thyroid. The thyroid is a medical condition whereby the thyroid gland tends to produce few thyroid hormones. Such a condition disrupts body temperature, heart rate, and another body metabolism.

What are most of your interactions about? Did you notice any patterns?

Most of my interactions, especially with my workmates, are about the events that are occurring in the world. For instance, after returning to work, a friend approached me and wanted us to talk about the detention of Muslims in China. However, there are patterns in my interactions. For instance, after the doctor’s appointment, I was sad and nervous that I did not want to talk with my friend.

How often do you communicate with others? How often do others communicate with you?

Before knowing my medical condition, I would communicate with my friends every time I feel like so. I would also be ready to attend various events such as the wedding I had been invited to attend. However, I used to feel a lot of anxiety during my interactions. Mostly, my friends communicate with me regularly, even without knowing about my medical condition. Like for instance, as soon as I arrived at my workplace after the doctor’s appointment, a friend had already come to me to discuss China.

At what times are you communicating the most?

Whenever a topic of my interest comes up, especially when with friends or in my workplace, I fully communicate by giving my views of the story. I would only do this with good health. After being diagnosed with thyroid, my moods to communicate and interact freely with my peers reduced. The thought of my condition made me feel sad, anxious and nervous that I did not feel like interacting anymore.

Did you communicate more or less expected?

After knowing my medical condition, my communication skills changed. I could not communicate better with my friends because I felt sad and nervous about the condition. I did not know what step to take next, whether to tell my friends about the condition or not. Therefore, I feel that I communicated less expected from me after knowing that I had thyroid.

How did you feel after some interactions? What made you feel that way?

After the diagnosis, I felt so down that I lacked the energy to interact with my friends. I even cancelled the wedding I had been invited to as I sympathised with myself. However, after accepting my condition and that I would eventually be treated, I started interacting again with friends. The feeling I got from them made me feel energized again as I continued with my medication.

How satisfied are you with the communication based on your experience?

I am satisfied with the way I communicate, in that despite having challenges, I still interact with my friends. Further, from the way friends approached for various discussions and being invited to events showed that my communication skills to them, are perfect.

Is there anything you would like to change?

Yes, I would like to change the way I manage my moods since they affect my communication skills. Based on the above experience, whenever I feel sad and bored, I tend to have poor communication skills since I cannot talk to my friends who may want us to talk.

In summary, good communication skills require that a speaker can manage the way they communicate despite their moods and stress they are undergoing. Further, it is essential that one learns how they can best communicate in various environments and to share their troubles openly.
