Theoretical Analysis Paper on Sociological Theorist, Max Weber

This is a two part assignment!

Using sociological Theorist, Max Weber. Students will then write two sections to the paper: The theoretical analysis paper has two goals: (1) develop a more in-depth understanding of a theorist’s work, and (2) apply theoretical ideas from your theorist to a particular social problem.

Part 1: (due 6/29) Two pages, single spaced typed paper (minimum). Students will overview the theorist’s life in the first paragraph. Following this, students will examine four central concepts/ideas of their theorist. For each concept, students must write at least a half page single space of material fully explicating the meaning of the concept, including a discussion of the significance of the concept to the overall theory. This section of the paper will use four sources: our textbook, and three or four (depending on if you could use our textbook) additional theory texts. Students will use the American Sociological Association (ASA) reference style, and thus will have a separate reference page. No other resources need be used in this section of the paper; additional sources can be used but must follow the same references rules. Students should focus on that part of the theorist’s work that is logically connected with the social problem they will discuss in Section II. Students should NOT discuss their social problem at all in this section.
