Write an essay, answering the following with your thesis: What does “To Prisoners” by Gwendolyn Brooks call for prisoners to do?
Make sure your essay has correct format, including:
An introduction that defines your view of some type of imprisonment, ending with a thesis that includes the reason “why” that will be explored in the body.
Body paragraphs with topic sentences that directly relate to your thesis’s reasons/rationale for its main idea.
A minimum of five supporting quotes: two from the poem, two from the video, and one from the database to be used in your refutation to counter those who would oppose you. (Cite in MLA).
Your critical thinking on those quotes to support your thesis. This should be detailed analysis. Plus, current or world events, personal experience, or other evidence that supports.
A refutation where you successfully counter-argue
A conclusion that meaningfully sums up all of the main ideas you present and “echoes” your thesis.
An MLA Works Cited page with the video, Brook’s poem, and the one database source.
Be sure to proofread and edit a few times before you submit it on Turnitin.
Don’t forget to TITLE your paper with something creative that also has appropriate cap rules.
