COM Students:
Helping an audience understand the mission and purpose of a business or organizations is often guided by imagery. Your assignment for this week requires that you present a local business or organization to the public in a print promotional flyer by taking a photograph that is representative of the mission or work of the entity. To achieve this, you must investigate the works of local businesses or organizations, find out what causes they support, and seek out opportunities to take original photographs that promote the mission or work.
JRN Students:
Many times when breaking news is simply not happening, journalists are tasked with “making news.” Your assignment for this week requires that you take a photograph in your local community from which you can make a relevant news story. To achieve this, you should seek out events or study the issues in your local area. Then, go out into the community to photograph those things that a reader for the local newspaper or magazine would care about, and build a story around it.
Important: Please read the instructions below carefully, and follow them according to your area of study. If you are a COM student, your instructions fall at the front of the “or,”and if you are a JRN student, you should follow the instructions after the “or” in each criteria. If there is no “or” included in a criteria, it applies to all students regardless of area of study.
